Hebrews 10: 22-24

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

You may not feel blessed rightnow.  You may be hurting financially, your health may be poor or your relationship may be struggling, but you can speak in faith knowing that the God who promised to care for you and bless you is faithful!  He cares about what is going on in every area of your life.  I know I have had times where I have gotten so frustrated because I want His blessings right now, I want Him to fix what is uncomfortable immediately, I don’t want to wait!

It is so easy to just want to give up and feel defeated when you just feel like things are never going to change, but be careful what words you choose to speak over your life or your relationships.  Words are a powerful thing.  God spoke things into existence and over and over in the Bible God tells us how important our words are.  We need to be very careful that the agreements we speak are with God and His desires for our life, not Satan.

All throughout your day there are two voices competing for your attention; the voice of faith and the voice of defeat.  Which one will you allow to rule your day?  It is your choice, you have nothing to lose to speak blessings over your life and the lives of the people you love.

Psalm 31:7
I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.

Even in our everyday relationships we may not feel that we are loved by the significant people in our lives but that really has nothing to do with whether or not we are! Especially as women our feelings are just not always quite on track with what’s really going on.  At least mine aren’t, some days….. Your feelings will never change the simple fact that God loves you too!  He loves you right where you are even though where you are may not be His first choice for you!  The Bible is very clear that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God!  NOTHING!

God cares about every tear you cry as well as every happy moment you share, but no matter what you are feeling about God, no matter how many times you try to tell someone God doesn’t care, it is just simply NOT true!  Don’t mistake God’s silence for not loving you or not caring!  Do you remember the story about Lazarus?  (If not check it out in John 11)  Jesus was told that Lazarus was sick and dying and he didn’t run over there to take care of him. He waited 2 more days and then walked to where Martha and Mary lived.  When He got there Lazarus had already been dead for 4 days but Jesus had waited because it gave God more glory to raise him from the dead than it did to heal his illness, and this helped others believe.  It wasn’t that Jesus didn’t care, He deeply loved Lazarus.  God’s silence is always for your good even if it seems painful at the time.  No matter where you are know that God loves you and He has your best interest at heart.  “When you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart”.

“Though feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.”  C.S. Lewis

Wow!  The storms have devastated too many areas, how terrible!  Here are a couple ways to bless people whether here or in other countries!  Bill and I are big on doing our part to help others, here are just a couple of opportunities;

God’s Pit Crew is an organization that helps those in need when tragedy strikes; just like the tornadoes across lower and middle U.S.  You can learn more about them at http://www.godspitcrew.org/  you can help by donating time, money or services.  Check it out!

I just received this from Christianity.com:

When a Muslim comes to faith in Jesus Christ, the one thing they plead for is a Bible.

And now we have been offered a $10,000 Challenge Grant to provide these desperately needed Bibles! But we need your help to meet this challenge!

Sadly, Bibles are scarce in most Islamic countries where it’s illegal to be a Christian. Which is why we have set a goal to deliver at least 4,000 Bibles to our suffering brothers and sisters in these countries over the next four months.  To read more….

2 Chronicles 15: 2

And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, “Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while you be with him; and if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him he will forsake you.”

The Israelites had a habit of going back and forth, one king would serve God and the next one would pull out the idols.  Asa’s Mom had idols but in spite of the way he was raised he chose to seek God and as a result Azariah had this message from the Lord for Asa.  It’s amazing how often people want God to be there when they need Him but they have no desire to seek Him.  This verse is pretty clear – if you seek Him He will be with you and if you toss Him aside, He will toss you aside.  God also makes it clear that if we turn around like Asa was trying to do and we go from forsaking Him back to seeking Him the Lord is always willing to be found.

Now, do you need to be “found” by God or does someone you know need that?  Sometimes when we are truly seeking God Satan will try to make us feel as though it isn’t doing any good.  He will try to make you think you have gone too far this time and God wants nothing to do with you.  It is hard telling how Asa felt at the point Azariah came to him but he obviously needed to hear these encouraging words because in verse 8 of this chapter it says, And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord that was before the porch of the Lord.

Don’t let Satan have the victory today whether it is you that is struggling to get your relationship back with God or someone else.  Know that God’s desire is for a close walk with each of us and as many times as Israel turned their backs on God He was still there for them when they turned back and since we are living under grace and God sees us through His son, Jesus Christ how much more can we expect Him to be there when we turn our hearts toward Him!  Repentance puts us back in favor with God, seeking Him today will help us find Him.  Never give up on yourself and certainly never give up on others, be that encourager, be the one to help push that person who is struggling today in their walk to a whole other level!  Asa heard the encouraging words and took everything to a whole new level of obedience you just never know what an encouraging word can do today.

Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:  For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I amaze myself sometimes with the most ridiculous excuses to put off obeying God.  I was reading this verse and it just pierced my heart with conviction and yet I heard myself saying to God, “day and night, wow!  Do you know how much easier that would be Lord if I just had a nice enclosed porch or some quiet room like that where I could go and read in peace?  Our house is so full of people all the time that to really get all I can out of that whole day and night thing, a quiet room would make that easier to obey!”

See what I mean?  What kind of crazy thinking is that?  God, the Almighty God, is saying to be in His word day and night so I can do what He has called me to do and THEN He will make my way prosperous and THEN I will have good success.  These verses were given to Joshua out in the dessert and I want an enclosed porch?!  Silly me!  How often though do we all make those types of excuses?  God says do this and we say BUT if you would just do this or remove that or give me something else, then it would be easier and more comfortable for me to do those things God.

God asks for a little more time learning about Him so we can know and do His will better and our response is, not until (fill in the blank)   Because it isn’t convenient.  God says, “put me first and be obedient and I will bless your marriage or your finances” and the responses He often gets are things like, “if you would just change him or if I could just have that promotion.”  We have it backwards most of the time; obedience comes first THEN the blessing!  We cannot just put God on the shelf and only obey where and when it is convenient and still expect Him to come through on the blessing.  God wants our obedience above all else and when we are faithful in the little things He will move us on to the bigger and better things!  Stop putting off whatever it is that God has spoken to your heart about and start today!

Esther 4:14

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”

Is this your time for a “such a time as this” moment?

Esther really didn’t want to go to the king and risk her life to talk to him about the evil that was about to happen to her people.  She was young and afraid to go in to stand before the king knowing that if he wasn’t in a good mood that day he could have her killed.  I think any woman would be quite uncomfortable under the circumstances.

Is there something you know you should do, maybe a stand you need to take with friends or at work or maybe your husband and you are just too uncomfortable to do it?  Maybe there is a Bible study that needs to be led and you aren’t feeling qualified, trust me – God doesn’t call the qualified to do things, He qualifies the called!!

The more I have read about Moses and Aaron and the Israelites the more I have realized that God was qualifying the called with them as well!  Everywhere you look in the Bible God uses the most unlikely people to do the most amazing things!  God does that so He gets the glory and so the one doing relies fully on Him not their qualifications!

Ladies, if God has asked you to do something or has put you in a situation that you are feeling skeptical about He has already equipped you to do what He has asked.  Just pray, trust and look to Him for the strength and guidance!

Galatians 1:27-28

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”

Some people only want enough of Jesus to stay out of Hell and not enough to walk in victory!  What are you after today?  Is it enough for you to just know that you are saved by Jesus death on the cross and you like your life just the way it is really, not too much hype on the whole Christianity thing and yet not some horrible life of sin either?  Are you “comfortable” where you are in your walk with God or do you want more?

Our ultimate goal in life ought to be to have all of Jesus we can get, all the wisdom, power, kindness, love, grace and mercy.  We should want to be as grown up in Him as we can get.  If you look at Spiritual growth as you look at Physical/Mental growth, think about how much more you can do now as an adult than you could when you were just a baby!  You have the capability to achieve more and lead others on many levels, there is just no comparison, isn’t that what you want for your Spiritual life as well?

The more mature we become in Christ the more victory we have in our lives.  The more mature you are the easier it is to avoid old habits and sins, the easier it is to take a stand for what is right and know why it is right!  The confidence of a mature Christian and the ability they have to lead others is vastly different than a baby in Christ naturally but the question is; are you a babe in Christ by choice or time?  Some people choose to remain infants, how sad is that?

The only way to grow in Him is to pursue Him and allow Him to teach you on a daily basis.  You can learn something from every experience you have in life if you will just give yourself totally over to Him and His will for your life.  Don’t hold anything back!  Study your Bible, ask God to give you such an overwhelming desire to study that you just can’t get enough of Him and His word.  Trust me, you may start slow but the more you read your Bible the more you will want to read it!  My prayer for each of you today is for God to be able to show you an area that He can walk with you in to bring you to the maturity in Him that He created you to have so you can be all He has created you to be!

“The only things that stand between a person and what they want in life are the will to try it and the faith to believe it’s possible.”  Rich Devos
